Don't be fooled by the following photos of happy children at this morning's storytime... Today is National Grouch Day! Despite my best efforts to turn them into grouchy kids, they remain my ever-sweet-n-smiley friends:
Family Place Workshop resumes tomorrow morning, Wednesday, October 10th,at 10:00am.
Join children ages birth thru three years (older siblings are welcome too!) and their parents/caregivers for stories, songs, a craft, free-play, socialization, and more! We will be reading stories about Fall and Leaves, and we'll make "leaf glitter" autumn trees very much like this:
Pre-registration is required; please call the library at 207-0764 to say you'll be here!
Our Tween Team is obsessed with creating Book Spine Poetry at the library! Their challenge: find 4 or 5 random books that create a poem when the books' spines are aligned, like this:
caught between the pages
and this one:
late, late at night
the secrets of peaches
Can I tell you how amazed I am with our team's poetry?! And, how impressed I am with their excitement over this challenge?! I suggested it - once - as a quick activity, but they're having so much fun with it (more than I had expected!) and they ask to do it again each week!
If YOU would like to try your luck at discovering and creating Book Spine Poetry with us, our next Tween Team meeting is tomorrow, Wednesday, October 10th, 5:00-6:00pm. Games, crafts, snacks, and more! Kids age 9-12 are invited! Bring a friend! Pre-registration is required; call the library at 207-0764 to say you'll be here!
Hello, Friends! It's here! The day of our next big TEDDY BEAR SLEEPOVER AT THE LIBRARY!
Wear your pajamas, and bring your teddy bear or other stuffed animal to the library today at 5:30pm for a very special Pajama Storytime about NOCTURNAL ANIMALS. When it's time to leave, your bear, stuffed animal, or doll is welcome to stay behind and spend the night at a toys-only sleepover event at the library! No people allowed! Oh dear, I wonder what mischief they'll create?! You can pick up your bear tomorrow, or any day this week or next week!
PreRegistration is required, so please call the library at 207-0764 to say you (and your teddy bear) will be here! See you soon!
This past Friday CRAFT-ernoon, our library welcomed more friends than I could possibly take pictures of, but I managed to get a few photos of the Yodas my friends created in advance of Saturday's Star Wars Reads Day! Check out these Yodas (and yes, his lightsaber really does light up!):
Thanks to all of my friends for stopping by for a visit at Friday CRAFT-ernoon! See you next time!
Earlier today, we enjoyed an amazing performance by the Flow Circus! Brought to us by the PNC Foundation as part of the Grow Up Great! campaign, we learned about the concepts of spending, sharing, and savingas we were entertained by impressive juggling stunts and magic tricks!
Check out some of these photos:
Thank you to PNC Foundation and the Flow Circus for a fun and educational afternoon at the library!
