Patchwork Rainbows at the Library

Hello, Friends!

This past weekend's "patchy" showers inspired us to read Elmer and the Rainbow by David McKee at Monday morning's storytime.  Check out these inspired patchwork rainbows we made in Elmer's honor:

Aren't they beautiful?!

It was so great to see everyone at yesterday's storytime!  Our next storytime this Friday morning at 11:30 am.  All ages are invited and pre-registration is not required.  See you then!

Dream Big! Be A Scientist!

Field paleontologists Mike and Roberta Straka visited our library this morning, and they took us on an exciting scientific exploration highlighting the world of dinosaurs, fossils, plants, bugs, undersea creatures and rocks/minerals.  They displayed fossils and ancient life excavated from the Badlands of North and South Dakota, and they encouraged our friends to Dream Big!  Be a Scientist!

Not A Stick! Scenes From Storytime

Recently we read one of my favorite stories, Not A Stick by Antoinette Portis:
and we used sticks we found outside our library to make these incredibly imaginative illustrations:

If Ms. Portis is considering writing a sequel to Not A Stick, I know of several talented artists who might be interested in helping create the illustrations!  ;-)
