Wasabi Wars

Greetings from the library!

Last Thursday, we held our World Food Fair. Children sampled vegetable lo mein, ho fun and mei fun from House of China. From Amber Indian, we sampled mutter paneer, palak paneer and baigan bhartha. The Amber also supplied us with a tub of rice pudding for free! Thank you, Amber! We tried oshinko, cucumber and avocado sushi rolls from Avocado Sushi. Once some of the children discovered the wasabi, there were a lot of double dog dares to keep adding some to each sushi roll! From Thai Rak Thai, we had pad thai and pineapple fried rice. City Cafe made us some tabbouleh and baba ghannouj. The entire crowd went home stuffed with plans on trying out the restaurants!

A very special thank you to House of China, Amber Indian Restaurant, Thai Rak Thai, Avocado Sushi and City Cafe!

The Story of Yoga

Greetings from the library!

Last Tuesday, we had Meg Trelease join us for The Story of Yoga. Meg is a very gifted story teller and yoga instructor. She had the children mesmerized with the story of Hanuman the monkey god and his superhuman strength. During the story, the children learned yoga poses like downward dog, upward facing dog, chair, tree, warrior and corpse pose.

At the end of the storytelling, Meg had the children learn parts of the Hanuman Chaleesa. We had the pleasure of a young boy reciting a part of the Hanuman Chaleesa in sanskrit from memory. We ended by listening to the Hanuman Chaleesa sung by Krishna Das while lying in corpse pose. Check out our yoga storytime pictures!

See you at the library,
